私たちについて
（一社）山ぼうしの樹犬猫の会は、熊本県上益城郡に拠点を置き、御船保健所や周辺地域から保護されたワンちゃんやネコちゃんのお世話や飼い主探しを行っています。
また、緊急を要する怪我や病気、心のケアが必要な子は会に引き取り、適切な治療やケアを行いながら、その子が幸せに生きるための最善策を日々考えています。
また、根本的な保護犬猫問題の解決に取り組むため、「HAWふくふくネットワーク」を立ち上げました。
今後、より地域に密着した団体として活動していきたいと思います。
The Yamaboushinoki Dog and Cat Association, based in Kamimashiki District, Kumamoto Prefecture, cares for and seeks owners for dogs and cats rescued from the Mifune Health Centre and surrounding areas. We also take in animals with urgent injuries, illnesses, or mental care needs, providing the appropriate treatment and constantly seeking the best way for them to live happily. Additionally, we launched the "HAW (Human and animal welfare) Fukufuku Network" to tackle issues of sheltered dogs and cats at a fundamental level. We aim to operate more closely with the local community in the future.
まず知ってほしいこと
保護犬猫の現状と課題
熊本県では平成２８年度の犬の捕獲及び引取り数は１９４１頭。
猫の引取り及び負傷猫保護頭数は１７９９頭。
行政機関での保護の数は年々、減少傾向となっていますが、
「野良猫が増えて困っている」という住民からの相談や「入院して飼えなくなった」など
高齢者と犬猫の問題は多く、社会の大きな課題となっています。
私たちがめざす未来は、保護活動が必要ない社会。
これまで沢山の保護団体やボランティアの方々がたゆまぬ努力をしてこられた結果、
殺処分数は年々減少しています。
しかし、野良猫の繁殖、多頭飼育崩壊、飼い主の飼育放棄など、根本課題は未解決で、保護と譲渡が繰り返されるいたちごっこの状態です。
In Kumamoto Prefecture alone, the number of captured and sheltered dogs in 2016 was 1.941 and the number of sheltered or injured cats 1.799. Although the number of animals protected by local administrative agencies has been decreasing, problems such as the increase of stray cats and elderly people being unable to care for their pets f.e. because of hospitalisation, remain significant societal challenges. Our goal is to contribute to a society where animal protection is unnecessary. Despite efforts from various organisations and volunteers, issues like stray cat reproduction and pet abandonment persist.
殺処分ゼロ、
収容頭数ゼロの背景に
環境省が出した統計資料によると、2020年度は、犬4059匹、猫1万9705匹が
殺処分されたとあります。これは、毎日65匹が殺処分されていることになります。
全体の収容数は毎年減少しており、殺処分ゼロを達成する自治体もあります。
私たちが関わる御船保健所でも、２０２３年の１１月に収容頭数がゼロの期間がありました。
一見、喜ばしいことにも見えますが・・・
その背景に目を向けると、必ずしもその限りではありません。
According to statistics from the Ministry of the Environment, in 2020, about 4.059 dogs and 19.705 cats were euthanised. This translates to about 65 animals being euthanised on a daily basis. The overall number of animals being sheltered is decreasing annually and some municipalities have achieved a zero euthanasia rate. Even at the Mifune Health Centre we're involved with, there were periods in November 2023 with zero animals being sheltered. While this may seem positive, the underlying reasons require scrutiny.

２０１２年、動物愛護管理法の改正によって、
行政は犬猫の引取りを拒否することができるようになりました。
その影響で、飼育困難に陥った飼育者や野外で繁殖した猫がそのまま放置され、
解決されていないことも多くあります。
安易にペットを迎えたり、適正な飼育や、むやみな繁殖など、私たち一人一人の動物理解と他者理解、尊重と配慮が足りなかった結果であると考えています。
助けを求める犬猫や、望まれずに生まれてくる命を無くすためにも、地域や住民、行政、私たちのような団体が手を取り合い、地域の課題として取り組んでいく必要があると考えています。
In 2012, amendments to the Animal Welfare and Management Law allowed administrative agencies to refuse taking in dogs and cats. As a consequence, many cats bred outdoors or those belonging to owners facing difficulties were abandoned, leading to unresolved issues. There is an increasing lack of awareness about pet ownership, its responsibilities, improper care and uncontrolled breeding. There seems to be a lack of understanding and respect for animals and each other. A close collaboration between communities, residents, administrations and organisations like ours is crucial.

「誰かがやってくれる」ではなく
「自分には何ができるか」
地域課題を解決するためには
一人一人が当事者意識を持って取り組むことが大切です。
保護犬猫たちのために何かしてあげたい、
と思っている方は多くても、実際には
自分には何もできないと思い込んでいる方も多いようです。
保護団体に入ったり、犬猫を自分で保護したりしなくても
それぞれのライフスタイルに合ったかたちで
支援できることは沢山あります。
目の前の助けたい命。
自分には何ができるか。
一人で１００％ではなく、
１０人が１０％ずつ
力を出し合えば１００％になります。
